Rick Crosslin

Rick Crosslin, District Scientist in Residence at MSD Wayne Township, has received numerous awards recognizing him as a classroom teacher. His awards include 2015 TechPoint Foundation 2015 Bridge Builder Award, 2016 Creative Teaching Award Eli Lilly Foundation, a 2011 Academy of Model Aeronautics Education Outreach Appreciation Award, 2011 Society of Professional Journalism Best Medial/Science Reporting, Indiana Expeditions 2010 Indiana Wildlife Federation, Education Conservationist award, Indiana 2010 Society of Professional Journalism Best Indiana Environmental, Indiana Expeditions, 2009 Emmy for Indiana Expeditions Children’s science program and a 2005 Emmy Technical Achievement PBS WFYI, 2004 Indiana University School of Education Distinguished Alumni, 2001 Christa McAuliffe Fellow, the 1999 Hoosier Association of Science Teachers Inc. Distinguished Service Award, the 1998 Milken National Educator Award, the 1997 Indiana Exemplary Teacher Network Award, finalist for the 1996 Indiana Teacher of the Year, the 1996 MSD Wayne Township Teacher of the Year, 1990 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, and the Interstate Mining Compact Commission 2008 National Mineral Educator award.

 

Rick has over 30 years’ experience with summer camps.  He is the camp director of the STEM Science Summer Safari for grades 3-6 in MSD Wayne Township.  He has taught grades 3, 4, 6 in Indiana and Cairo, Egypt and graduate courses for IUPUI.  In addition, he has taught at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, adolescent teens at the Indiana Department of Correction Boys’ School, intergenerational classes at Oasis centers, and former camp director of the Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana.  He was the host and executive director of Emmy award winning Indiana Expeditions a WFYI PBS science television program where he shares his expertise and motto: Science is for Everyone! Host and Executive Producer The Great American Total Solar Eclipse 2017.  TEDx Presentation – Science is For Everyone 2019.

The FPG-9
