AMA Jr. Camp is an online, virtual camp experience, developed and presented by the Academy of Model Aeronautics. It is designed to be a fun, preparatory course for youth ages 5-12 to learn model aviation fundamentals that will help to prepare them for future, more advanced aeromodeling opportunities
The Academy sponsors aviation events annually in the Science Olympiad and provides $5,000 annually to assist winners to attend secondary education. In addition, a member of the AMA Education Committee was the designer of the 2013 aviation challenge, a balsa catapult glider.
There was no national competition held in 1942 to 1945 due to World War II. The first post-war Nats held in 1946 was referred to as the Victory Nats.
