DFG is an exciting STEM competition involving drones for students in grades 6 - 8. Middle school students work with their mentors and teachers to develop an innovative drone-based solution to a problem in their community, state, or the world. They will build and fly their own K'Nex based drones. Check out the examples of DFG drones in the picture below and this video of how the basic kit is assembled. Students develop research, problem-solving, and communication skills while designing, building, and flying their own drones. The major outreach program of the G3 Drone Team is the G3 Drones for Good Tournament for middle school students. While everyone is welcome, they target students from schools serving disadvantaged areas as part of our greater goal of making STEM activity available to all students. All students in our program are required to join AMA, learn the AMA guidelines, and FAA rules. Each team is also asked to register with the FAA. Our program works beyond our wildest expectations, and we are looking for anyone who would like to host their own version. We have developed support material and would be glad to share. G3 Drones for Good is based out of Atlanta, GA. For more information about the program, please visit https://www.g3robotics.com/.
