The AMA has been awarded two grants from the ARCONIC Foundation, formerly ALCOA. The results have been AeroLab (see the video below) and our current project to provide aviation education kits to Arconics worldwide for use in classrooms.
Science Olympiad (SO)
The Academy sponsors aviation events annually in the Science Olympiad and provides $5,000 annually to assist winners to attend secondary education. In addition, a member of the AMA Education Committee was the designer of the 2013 aviation challenge, a balsa catapult glider.
NASA is a grant partner in the permanent display of model aviation in the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis (the world’s largest), Flight Adventures unit of study, and Wings Over Indiana, a 60-minute PBS documentary television show on the role of models in aviation and aerospace.
Soaring Society of America
The Soaring Society of America, or SSA, was formed in 1932 to foster and promote all phases of full-scale soaring or gliding.
FAA STEM-AVSED Program (Aviation & Space Education)
The mission of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is to provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world.
